As I said before we have been thinking about making a new blog! And today we decided to actually go ahead and make one.

However, Megan and I will not be sharing a blog. We have decided to go our separate ways on the blogging front.

Review: Hysteria by Megan Miranda ~ Leona

Having adored Megan Miranda's debut novel, Fracture, I began reading Hysteria with high expectations. Let me tell you, they were met..and surpassed. I didn't think it would be possible for me to love her second book as much as I loved the first one. But I did.

As soon as I read the first line: My mother hid the knife block. I was intrigued, and then I was hooked! Megan Miranda has a way with opening lines. Fractures first line was wonderful and Hysterias was awesome.
The mystery that we get a feel for at the beginning continues through out the book. I was completely captivated in finding out more and more about our main character, Mallory. She killed her boyfriend so the tension we feel between her and her parents and those around her is understandable. I loved her and her love interest was awesome! Words cannot describe.

Allow me to introduce you to the love interest. His name is Reid and I love him. There's something about a guy whose name is my favourite past time. Reid was the most wonderful love interest that I could imagine. When he was first introduced I was rather weary of him. I thought he was just another stuck up guy who wanted to take advantage of Mallory. That is not what he was at all. He was sweet and charming and he was good for Mallory. I have only one question "Where can I get a Reid?"

This book had a lot of twist and turns and was constantly shocked by the changes throughout it. There were times when I felt emotional because there were parts that were brilliantly written and powerful. The ending of Hysteria left me hungry for more and i kind if wish that this wasn't a stand alone. But in other ways I'm glad that it was a standalone.

Hysteria is definitely one of my favourite books of 2013 and I cannot wait to read Megan Miranda's next book.

Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green ~ Leona

The Fault In Our Stars was a book that left me overwhelmed with emotions. It was an incredibly gripping story that had me hooked straight away. I became so engrossed in the characters and the story that I would read until the early hours of the morning. 

Every single moment between Augustus and Hazel was beautiful. Even when there was sadness there was beauty hiding underneath. I felt connected to the characters immediately which really helped me to enjoy the book.

You know when a book is so perfect you just can't find the words to describe it? The Fault In Our Stars is deffinitely one of them. I could sit here another 4 hours and still not be able to put into words my feelings about this book.

It's filled with humour, tragedy, love and sadness. It will bring you from laughter to sadness and back again. You will experience a wide range of emotions through out the book.

John Green is deffinitely one of the best authors that I have come across. I will absolutely read more of his work.

Blogging for fun!

As you may have noticed, we haven't written a review in a while. This would be because we haven't had the time. We have read new books, but we haven't had the chance to write a review for them.

We would like to thank you all so much for sticking with us even though we haven't updated anything lately.
I (Leona) will be posting a review as soon as I can for 'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green. It will be posted within the next few days.

I don't know where we'll go from that but I hope that we will be able to get back into the swing of things.

As the title says we are now blogging, and reading, for fun. That means that there won't be as many reviews posted. But come the middle of June, when we've finished our exams we will post LOTS!

I hope that you can stick with us until then.


We are always looking for ways in which we can make this blog more interactive with you so please comment below telling us what sort of thing you would like us to do. I (Leona) a would also appreciate a few book recommendations. Preferably a short book that has an engaging plot and characters.

We're really sorry that we haven't posted anything in a VERY long time. At the minute we are both very busy with school work and other things. I do believe that we are going to delete this blog and begin a new one. We haven't fully decided on that yet though. We will bring you more news soon.

Review: Desert Rice by Angela Scott - Megan

Desert Rice is intense, chilling and emotionally captivating. With an estranged father and a recently deceased mother, Sam and Jacob are thrown head-first into a world they haven't learnt to trust yet. Struggling to make ends meet, their attempts at survival and escaping the seclusion of foster homes crafts this novel into a journey that is guaranteed to break your heart.

Angela Scott does well to keep us in the dark about these two characters. Bits and pieces are tossed into the mix to give us an understanding of what is going on but I'd advise you to have a box of tissues at the ready for when the truth is revealed. The pace at the beginning of the novel seems to be rather slow because of the lack of information we're given but the consistent twists and turns will keep you on your toes.

Jacob is exactly the type of big brother that every girl needs. His undeniable love for Sam is heartwarming although his overprotective nature towards her is slightly erratic. He made various decisions that left me in a state of confusion but I understood they were based purely on love. Honestly, I was surprised by his maturity and determination especially during the more intense moments of the book. You almost forget that he's only 15 years old which is why I appreciated the scenes where you get to witness Jacob's vulnerability. 

Sam's distraught about having to dress like a boy was understandable. The pressure placed upon her shoulders is almost unbearable to fathom at times because her innocence just makes you want to curl up into a ball and cry. Experiencing these events through Samantha's eyes pulled on my heartstrings and watching her grow and come to terms with the reality of her situation was wonderful.

Angela Scott has a beautiful writing style that was easy to follow and possessed the power to pull emotions from me. She brought her characters to life and delivered a thought provoking novel that deals with serious themes in a professional manner. I strongly recommend this book to everyone who hasn't yet read it and I can't wait to see where the plot continues in the next instalment, Desert Flower.

I hear voices. Tiny fictional people sit on my shoulders and whisper their stories in my ear. Instead of medicating myself, I decided to pick up a pen, write down everything those voices tell me, and turn it into a book. I’m not crazy. I’m an author. For the most part, I write contemporary Young Adult novels. However, through a writing exercise that spiraled out of control, I found myself writing about zombies terrorizing the Wild Wild West—and loving it. My zombies don’t sparkle, and they definitely don’t cuddle. At least, I wouldn’t suggest it. 

I live on the benches of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains with two lovely children, one teenager, and a very patient husband. I graduated from Utah State University with a B.A. degree in English, not because of my love for the written word, but because it was the only major that didn’t require math. I can’t spell, and grammar is my arch nemesis. But they gave me the degree, and there are no take backs. As a child, I never sucked on a pacifier; I chewed on a pencil. I’ve been writing that long. It has only been the past few years that I’ve pursued it professionally, forged relationships with other like-minded individuals, and determined to make a career out of it.
